Chicot County Tax Collector Found Beaten To Death

320x240Sheriff Ronald Nichols confirms to KARK the beating death of the 72 year old Chicot County Tax Collector.

Sheriff Nichols says Nell Johnson, a 72 year old grandmother, was found beaten to death around 1:00 Thursday afternoon.

Nichols tells KARK Johnson's brother went by her house after she failed to show up for work this morning. There he found his sister bludgeoned to death. The sheriff says Johnson suffered a blunt force trauma to her head. FULL STORY

Arkansas man gets Tenth Drinking and Driving Conviction

18061979 BG1William Hogue,30, is behind bars in the Pope County Detention Center for a DWI on State Highway 7 Sunday.

According to Arkansas State Police, over the weekend he was pulled over; failed the field sobriety test and blew a .28 percent, triple the legal limit.

Hogue has been convicted a total of ten times for driving while intoxicated (DWI) or driving under the influence (DUI). The convictions are spread out over several Arkansas towns and Wyoming dating back to 1999. FULL STORY

Ark. Supreme Court denies bid by Fort Smith killer

The Arkansas Supreme Court has denied a rehearing request by a condemned inmate who fatally stabbed his estranged wife at a Fort Smith intersection while she was seeking protection from police.

The court on Thursday issued an order without comment denying Thomas Leo Springs' request for another appeal hearing.  Full Story
