For a growing minority of Central Arkansans, the arrival of Dempsey Bakery — a modish joint on the edge of downtown that serves gluten-free sandwiches and treats — was the most exciting food news of 2011. LR farmer's market launches for season

farmers marketThe farmers market in downtown Little Rock launched this morning, marking its 38th season.

Area farmers offered tables of strawberries, the main seasonal produce available currently. They also sold an array of vegetables, including lettuce, watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes, green beans, onions and potatoes.
